The Visitor Center along route 13 welcomes everyone to the southern tip of the Eastern Shore of Virginia after crossing the Chesapeake Bay. It was especially gratifying to build this structure for the Tourism Commission and continue the Kellam family history. Luke’s grandfather, Lucius J. Kellam, was the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel Commission's first chairman. He is credited with bringing the tunnel project from a dream to reality. The facility was renamed in his honor in 1987.
